Kevin Hornby is the latest in a long line of builders in the Hornby family, please see some of their history below:
From 1901 to 1986
First building business was started by Fredrick Hornby in 1901, since then passing down through the generations, until it was acquired by Kevin Hornby’s father D.E Hornby. Kevin and his father worked together building a reputation for outstanding workmanship throughout Manchester and the North West.
Hard hats were optional back then! — This picture was believed to be taken in Ancoats, Manchester in the yard of the houses being built by the Hornby firm.
Prices have increased since 1916, however, they are still a great value! – The Companies Slogan back then was: “Joiner, Builder, And General ‘Repairer of Property” in essence this is still what the Hornby Family do one hundred years on.
Kevin’s Great Grandfather, G.F Hornby build Built Easing Wold House, Mill Lane, Woodford / Poynton, Stockport and more than 100 houses in Ancoats, Manchester.
From 1987 to 2001
In 1987 his father had two heart attacks and had to leave the family business to Kevin, Kevin and his wife Sue have been managing the business since 1987 and they have taken the Hornby family business from strength to strength, but still keeping the core beliefs that have lasted for over a hundred years.
From 2002 to 2020
In more modern times Kevin Hornby, his son Kyle Hornby and his team of skilled workers have expanded the types of work the business does especially in the fields of surveying and in the commercial sector. Highlights for this period include working on the groundworks of the new Coronation Street set.
2020 and the next 100 years
